Write for us

Radiant Music Journal welcomes pitches that help curious readers hear, understand or think about music in a fresh way. We are interested in clear, original ideas grounded in careful listening, useful context or a well-defined musical question.

What we welcome

Pitch essays and explainers about listening, songcraft, instruments, recording or musical traditions. A strong proposal has a focused subject, a clear reason it matters to readers and an angle that is not just a list of facts or an unsupported personal verdict.

What to include

Tell us the proposed subject, the main idea you would develop, why it suits Radiant Music Journal and a little about your relevant experience or perspective. Flag any sources, access needs or potential conflicts that would affect the piece. Please send a proposal rather than a completed article unless we have requested one.

Where to send it

Send your pitch through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and identifying it as a contribution proposal. We review ideas for fit and clarity; sending a pitch does not guarantee publication.

Our point of view

Curiosity is a good way in.

You do not need a specialist vocabulary to listen closely. Start with what you hear, try a new angle, and stay open to being surprised.
